The control of buzzards in favour of the minority activity of pheasant shooting. There are wildlife and public finance issues
I would ask all people to contact their MP and the ministyer incharge of DEFRA in opposing the suggestion that gamekeepers would be able to place buzzards in captivity and destroy their nests in order to help the 'pheasant shooting industry'. Apart from this being for the benefit of such a small minority, DEFRA is asking for public finance to implement its ideas at a time of financial pressure on all budgets. Buzzard take extremely low numbers of pheasants preferring other foods. The shooting industry contributes to the decline in many raptor species.

Reintroducing predatory birds has led to the destruction of our song birds so I cannot support this proposition

there is one thread on the buzzards here http://38degrees.uservoice.com/forums/78585-campaign-suggestions/suggestions/2875795-stopping-defra-plans-to-destroy-buzzard-nests-and- might be worth focusing on one.
Yes absolutely, this incredibly ill thought out proposal needs knocking on the head immediately. It is not even based on a scientific assessment of buzzard predation on pheasants, just a stupid opinion survey amongst a very biased sample of gamekeepers. What a way to do your research! And anyway who cares if a few measly pheasants are taken. There are hundreds of thousands released every year, completely distorting the ecology of woodlands. Give the buzzards a break!
