I suggest a campaign about ...

Limit Bankers Bonuses by legislation

Bonuses should be limited to a maximum of 10% or £10,000. Some bankers bonuses are more than £250,000 AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO GOT US IN THIS MESS.

Sorry - can't support this. Rather than getting any bonus at all, they should pay huge fines for creating the economic crisis in the first place.

you know if for one day we could stand together without fighting and told the banks that we all wanted to withdraw our money and stop using them and say use something more ethical ie a credit union etc they would soon stand up and listen if we targeted one bank at a time it would work same and it would work if we all refused to pay the utilities companies they couldnt do anything, why should we suffer to pay shareholders and fat cats when utilities are the basic right of life they should all be public again we just to stand up together they will listen

This does not address the root cause like landvaluetax.org Worse yet, the way money is created taxes the entire real economy to the benefit of the financial sector positivemoney.org.uk

I see the boss of RBS has backed down and now not taking his bonus.Well done 38 degrees but this is just a start isnt it Now lets get on with opposing the govt plans on the NHS reforms and DLA changes as well eh

Set up a petition for this now because of the imminent RBS agreement on their bonuses.
I cannot understand how bonuses can be paid when a company is in debt???

      • grahamgraham commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

YES please let it happen but somehow i just dont think it will not with this evil govt in power

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) are now also in agreement with tying bankers bonuses to the bank's performance as well as share price. Nick Clegg said that the government will publish new plans to stop unjustified pay in the private sector. However, we need to push this also to ensure something is actually done.

This subject should be raised to the top of the agenda for 38 Degrees.
It is not enough to try to re-introduce the Bankers Bonus Windfall Tax as was suggested at the Labour Party Conference. The directors of RBS and Lloyds should have been sacked and their previous bonuses should have been reclaimed to help with the UK deficit. The UK Government has just let the banks return to business as usual without any accountability for their responsibility in getting us into this financial crisis.

I've got to say stop bank bonuses entirely - the economy is in total disarray - the govt ( ie the people) part own the banks so now they're beginning to make obscene profits again lets take that off them and put it back into the system the finance industry has robbed in the first place!

a large percentage of the populace are unemployed ..if they manage to get a job they will earn less than some of these bonuses , never mind bonuses most employers expect their employees to do their job for basic wage so why do bankers get good basic wages plus bonuses when they should be doing a good job without a bonus ,, most jobs if you dont perform well your demoted or sacked the bonus in most cases IS the job

perhaps if the regulators had any teeth and were not so in bed with the bankers, they could keep bonuses in check! they might also do their job and not permit whacky financial instruments or derivations or check out real values or claims made by financial institutions. the world depends on sound financials but the people who work in the industry are nothing more than double glazing salesman. rarely is an educated specialist required to even lead these companies - the main facet you require, is a willingness to inspire those employees who have doubts about the dodgy products that are being punted to the public (check out the videos of the major players in full swing during training/inspiration meetings). its a shocker!

If we knew the pay/bonuses of all bankers over say 250K and this had to be published we could start a campaign for people to move their accounts to the banks that paid the least in bonuses/pay and I think people would move - but now we just don't know which banks pay the most amounts out.
