I suggest a campaign about ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Human trafficking

I suggest a campaign to oppose the UK government's refusal to endorse the EU Directive to combat the trade in sex slaves and child trafficking.

This Directive will encourage and assist united action against sexual exploitation trafficking. The UK efforts and successes in pursing traffickers are weak and urgently need a robust response. I know of none.

    • Bike to Work scheme

The Government have changed the Bike to Work scheme, which they are entitled to do, however they have made it retrospective. That means it is going to cost me over £100 more to buy my bike back at the end of the scheme and cost others £200. See: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/eim21667a.htm

I believe this is unfair, I have savings, I could have bought a bike myself. People have spent time weighing up the scheme before joining, now all that was a waste of time.

      • Don't scrap the Carbon Trust

Have you seen that the Taxpayers Alliance are launching a campaign to persuade the government to scrap the Carbon Trust? http://conservativehome.blogs.com/centreright/2010/09/scrap-the-carbon-trust.html

Have you thought about launching a counter-action? (although it may have the disadvantage of drawing attention to it)

        • Open-cast mines near residential areas - support the private member's bill

Somewhat to my surprise, I find myself advocating that we support something politicians are doing!

Andrew Bridgen MP (Con) has introduced a private members bill requiring a 500 metre buffer zone between open-cast mines and people`s homes. He has the support of Sir Peter Soulsby (Lab) and many people in Leicestershire and Derbyshire ( see www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk and www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk ).

The bill is partly in response to the activities of UK Coal, who, having established open-cast mines in particular areas, often after protracted disputes, then start applying to increase the scope of their activities.

Their mine in the Smalley/Shipley area of…

          • Keep Cornwall whole

I believe that 38 degrees should support the campaign to keep Cornwall whole, which seeks to oppose the coalition plans to create a crosS Tamar constituency as part of the electoral reform.

Its a grass roots campaign, that seeks to challenge the power of government to redraw electoral boundaries without consulting the electorate or taking local concerns into account. www.keepcornwallwhole.com supported by all political parties in Cornwall.

            • ISPs and customer information

The hounding of people by companies like ACS Law, and the profiteering of ISPs and their disregard for customer information is a very serious issue. Can you put together a campaign on the issue? This 'letters of warning campaign' is nothing but legalised blackmail and extortion.

              • The Data Protection Act re Credit Reference Files

Credit Reference Files are littered with inaccuracies and information registered purely for vexatious reasons. Creditors/Debt Collection Agencies and the Credit Reference Agencies believe they are above the Data Protection Act. Even when faced with evidence an entry on a CRF is inaccurate or placed in error, they are unwilling to remove or amend the information. Even when the Information Commissioner's Office investigates, the ICO appear unwilling or unable to rule against big business.

These inaccuracies can ruin people's lives, preventing them obtaining credit. We all know that the strength of the economy of the UK relies on the availability of…

                • foreign patients and the NHS

foreign patients cost the Nhs billions each year, when you need hospital treatment abroad they won't even touch you before they see your insurance documents. Nurses tell us they haven't got time to check any paperwork and would be sued if they refused treatment anyway - imagine how much this is costing the country?

                    • Petition the Queen to pay off the nation's deficit

Petition the Queen to pay off the nation's deficit - as she is the richest person and biggest landowner in the world. If she doesn't want to use her own money could sell some of the treasures that other nations have awarded us as tokens of friendship between our nations - let us benefit from these gifts instead of them being locked away in her palaces gathering dust.
