On Monday May 6th a draconian new law was put before the European Commission, which creates new powers to classify and regulate all plant life anywhere in Europe.

The "Plant Reproductive Material Law" regulates all plants. It contains immediate restrictions on vegetables and woodland trees, while creating powers to restrict all other plants of any other species at a later date.

Under the new law, it will immediately be illegal to grow, reproduce or trade any vegetable seed or tree that has not been tested and approved by a new "EU Plant Variety Agency, who will make a list of approved plants. Moreover, an annual fee must also be paid to the Agency to keep them on the list, and if not paid, they cannot be grown. (

In the late 1970s/early 1980s, over 4,800 British Haemophiliacs were knowingly infected with Hepatitis C through D.O.H approved N.H.S treatment. A further 1,200+ were also infected with HIV, the virus that leads to AIDS. Of those 1200, only 360 remain and hundreds have died from Hepatitis C. The rest are left in the shadows of terminal illness with no official backed Government inquiry into the circumstances of how this deplorable situation happened.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for our community. We’ve been exposed to and infected with potentially hundreds of other contaminants, such as C.M.V, Hepatitis B and Vcjd [the Human form of mad cow disease] which some 800+ have also been exposed. Across the decades the death toll has now accelerated into the thousands from both Hepatitis B, C and AIDS, with many more lives, marriages and families torn apart.

To this day, the British Government and subsequent Governments have steadfastly refused to hold an inquiry into this tragedy. Against absolute and overwhelming evidence, an extensive independent inquiry [The Archer Report] and a successful High Court review our calls are still shamefully ignored time and time again.

We are campaigning for Mr Cameron and this coalition Government to morally and finally do the right thing and give us victims our justice and to let those lost rest in peace.

The Ministry of Justice has proposed a legal aid tendering system which is deeply flawed and threatens legal aid provision. With little consultation, they propose a competitive tendering system taking no account of quality, as introducing a new system which would effectively shut down small and medium sized solicitors' firms. This leaves no place for expertise, local knowledge, or choice. With the scheme being rolled out across the whole country at the same time, a huge risk is being taken with the principle of justice in pursuit of savings which are not even guaranteed. Our justice system is too important to let this happen.

I felt that this message should be made available to all photographers and artists (so please forward this on).
If this gets passed then you will lose ALL rights to your pictures as it will not take much for an unscrupulous individual or company to remove your meta data and start making money from YOUR images and you will not get a thing as it will be classed as an orphan image.

We need the help of photography magazines and a possible petition to stop us losing our rights - even David Bailey is outraged!

Many pro photographers and amateurs will lose income and the rights to their own hard work.

I live in Plymouth and often walk my dog with my young family along the coast paths in and around the city. It has been heartbreaking to see not only many dead sea birds washed up on the beach, but the miles of effluent slick on the surface of the sea. It is currently legal for PIB to be released, under the Bonn Convention it is legal for merchant ships to flush their tanks at sea. The dead birds are the very visible effects of this practise being allowed to continue, but the long term impact on the marine ecology is unknown.

Micheal Gove has recentley cut funds for all children with special needs in east cheshire schools.This will now have to come out of the regular school funds and the money simply isn't there!This could mean that some children with complex behavioural problems will not have one to one support from an adult and may not be able to attend school.This would put pressure on their parents who need a break.It has also been done a year earlier than proposed without parents being informed until after the fact.I believe this is discriminating against children who may already be at a disadvantage compared to their peers.What does Micheal Gove propose parents of these children do?They still have a right to education and can be productive members of society.I would like questions put to Micheal Gove in parliment as to what he suggests happens to these children without the valuable funding,and what of their future.

I hate cats and cat shit.

What, why do you hate cats?

So, why do I hate cats?

Well, firstly I have a severe allergy to cats, especially fluffy cats, the fluffier the cat the worse my allergy. This allergy makes me itch, then, my eyes water and then I start to sneeze my head off. This continues for several hours after I´ve moved away from the cats or the house which they where in.

However an even bigger reason I hate them is nothing to do with my allergy but more to do with what the little bastards do and leave in my garden.

If you have a cat, let me ask you a question. If I came into your garden night after night and let my dog leave little piles of shit scattered around your lawn and bedding plants, how would you feel. You´d report me to the police wouldn´t you, or what would you say if I bought a cat and let it shit in your back garden every night?

So all you cat lovers will be saying, “Well its nature isn´t it” or “There wild animals what can you do?” or even "My cats are so nice they dont do that"

Both of my neighbours have more than one cat and some of my others neighbours have one cat so we are in somewhat of a cat hotspot, and I am sick of cleaning cat shit out of my garden everyday.

Now what really annoys me even more is that if this was dog doing this I could take legal action against the owner of the dog, but because there is no legislation for cats I have to put up with it. Theres nothing worse than doing a bit of gardening and finding you´ve either put your hand in “Cat shit” or you´ve nearly put your hand in “Cat shit”

I´ve taken to some drastic measure to stop the bastards shitting in my garden, I´ve bought cat scarers, they works to a fashion but I´d need loads to cover all of the garden and there £35 each!. I´ve tried putting scent down in the garden which is supposed to scare cats away, but when it rains it washes this away. I´ve even put little pointy sticks in the garden to discourage them from squatting down but they just shit elsewhere.

The most effective method I have found is water. A good soaking with the hose pipe usually stops a cat in its tracks but this involves sitting watching the garden all day!

Failing the above what can I do to stop cats coming into my garden? If I even say I´ll harm a cat I´ll have the Cat Protection League beating a path to my door, threatening me with Legal or physical pressure.

Talking to my neighbours about their cats, gets me the typical cat owner responses, see above, so their as likely to do anything about it as they are to clean up the shit their cats leave behind.

Its about time cat owners where made responsible for their pets as dog owners have been made to be. After all if you are responsible enough to buy a pet then you should be responsible enough to look after it and be responsible for your pets actions. What ever they maybe!

Cat shit! I hate it.

Ecocide is the extensive damage to, destruction or loss of ecosystems. The European Citizens’ Initiative to End Ecocide in Europe is under way (www.endecocide.eu), collecting 1 million signatures to criminalise Ecocide throughout the European Union whether on land or sea, when European citizens or European companies are involved anywhere in the world, and for a Europe wide ban on the sale of any product derived from Ecocide anywhere in the world. Directors of companies concerned would be liable to criminal charges, not just loss of business.

This is not just a petition, but an official instrument of direct democracy, which went live in 2012. When we reach the target of 1 million names by 21st January 2014, the European Commission is obliged to consider the Initiative’s draft directive, and the European Parliament to hold a public hearing.

To sign the Initiative 38 degrees members need to enter their data at www.endecocide.eu; to generate 1 million signatures from 8 EU countries as required, will need the signatures of all 38 degrees members and their families and friends.
