Limit the length of road works
It seems more and more the norm now to have road works that span many miles.
For example, the M62 road works between Leeds and Manchester, this is a stretch of 20+miles of 50mph restricted speed limit with average speed cameras all the way.
Not all of the road works are being worked on; many times it is just down to a couple of miles yet all the traffic have to suffer all of the 20+miles.
This type of road work is repeated in many areas up and down the country.
This leads to frustration for most of the drivers, poor lane awareness often resulting in accidents and illegal driving habits.
Wouldn’t it make far more sense to impose a limit on the length of the road works? This would reduce –
1) Drivers frustration
2) Illegal driving habits
4) Possibly the overall cost of the road work
Whilst it is obviously necessary for road works, it is also necessary for people to get from A to B in a reasonable time, at a reasonable rate and to drive reasonably.
I may not have put my point across properly or correctly but I’m sure there are many people who would agree to the sentiment and legitimacy of my proposal.
