Close shop doors to reduce CO2 emissions
During the cold snap earlier this year, several of us noticed doors in shops standing open. Many of these shops were branches of brand name companies. When we asked the staff why the doors were open, they said it was a directive from the main office. The theory is that people are less likely to walk into a shop if the door is closed.
Since the individual shops cannot independently decide to shut the door, the main headquarters and the decision-makers there need to be told to stop this wasteful practice. In this time where austerity is the catchphrase and when everyone is being urged to become more energy efficient, it is crazy to increase heating bills and CO2 levels.
The head offices need to hear that we think of this waste. Since the loud voice of thousands can be heard when individual voices can be ignored we need to send a message to these large companies that we want them to close the door!
