I suggest a campaign about ...

Forget solar- Thorium Energy, the truth about SAFE nuclear energy that could change the world.

Here's a fact for you, in 2007 the world energy consumption was

5.3 BILLION TONNES OF COAL
31.1 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL
2.92 TRILLION M(3) OF NATURAL GAS
65,000 TONNES OF URANIUM ORE

This is equal to only 6600 tonnes of thorium

Thorium is found almost everywhere, it is easy to source and more importantly it is stable. A meltdown such as Chernobyl or Fukushima is very easily preventable and almost impossible because of the fact that Thorium does not need to be cooled by water, and so it also does not produce gallons of irradiated waste either. It is a very efficient power source and a mass of thorium the size of a standard football pitch could power the world for a year.

This technology is not in its infancy, it has been highly researched, proven and tested.

URANIUM based nuclear plants are dangerous and expensive, Thorium based are not at all dangerous and a lot more cost effective.

Solar and wind energy may sound green, but as well as being extremely inefficient they too create waste that is harmful to the environment. The main material used in the construction of solar panels is a HEAVY METAl, these do not degrade and are very difficult to store safely.

The main obstacle for the further investigation and testing of Thorium is the fact that the government feels it has already put too much money into Uranium as well as other substandard approaches to solving the worlds energy problems.

Clean nuclear energy; it does exist but was shelved during the Cold War since it produces no weapons grade plutonium. The world's priorities are somewhat different now, so isn't it time Britain developed the liquid fluoride thorium reactor where the americans left off in the '60's?
