Government plans to increase email and social networking surveillance

The government are planning to introduce a new law allowing police and security services to extend their monitoring of the public's email and social media communications. Labour tried to introduce something similar in 2009 but it was thrown out due to concerns it would harm civil liberties.

        It has been known for a while in the industry that the government was planning to backtrack on its commitment to abandon Labour's snooping laws. Now the secret is out let 38 Degrees lobby this right off the face of the planet. Its not about terrorists or criminals, its about oppression of the population by the elite. Any terrorist cell would be using clandestine methods of communication. Even decent companies use PGP encryption in emails to protect their information. I always use it when communicating on HR matters, that way I can be certain only the eyes it was intended for can read it. If you are interested this is a good place to start;
