Let's start a campaign that encourages business leaders with integrity to speak out and start leading from the front on changing the way that business is done. There are already examples - Bill Gates of Microsoft, Guy Watson of Riverford, Terry Smith of Tullett Prebon. They recogise that it is not capitalism itself that is wrong - but that we have allowed it to become distorted. People get rewarded for failure and salaries and bonuses for senior staff have increased in many companies out of all proportion to business success. Also in some companies where pay for senior staff is very high, pay for staff is so low that they have to claim state benefits. We as taxpayers are effectively subsidising senior staff pay. We don't need governemtn action to change this - we need action by senior business leadser.
