Challenge the government on their own inequality laws
If you are single and under 25yrs old and on a low wage you cannot claim Tax credits to supplement your income and you are only entitled to a single room for rental purposes. Apprentices and workers who are trying to earn a living instead of living of the dole get no support until they reach 25yrs old. In addition when you reach this age you are suddenly entitled to Tax credits and a one room flat rather than a single room.
This is age discrimination. What is the difference between a 24yr old and 25yr old other than age.
Example of how this works
If you earn £100 per week under 25 then you receive no Tax credits and your housing benefit is based on your wages only. If you are over 25 then you would receive approx £54 per week on top of your wages and your housing benefit would not be affected by the additional income.
