We are all encouraged to use public transport for the sake of the environment but we are forced to use the car or even fly between cities in the North and London for example, because the train are unbelievably expensive. Often at least double the price of the same journey by car. What is going on? Yes there are affordable tickets but only if you book weeks ahead and travel at certain times. life doesn't work like that. Why should you be penalised if you dare to buy your ticket on the day of travel. It disgraceful! Britain is a small island and should be cheap to get around, the distances are so small.
